What are Chinese Desserts?

Almost anything that is sweet.

 chinese traditional food  Although as mentioned before Desserts in Chinese cuisine are not that common as the food itself can be sweet, therefore there is no longing for that sweet taste after a meal.

Following is just a few examples of various Chinese Desserts that can be found in a Chinese Restaurant.

Fruit

Chinese desserts can be very simple such as plates of fruit on their own or mixed, Chinese Food Varieties such as apples and oranges cut up.

These can be served with Ice-cream (any flavours)

Any kind  of fruit is acceptable  - chinese rice dishes

Also, Dried candied fruit and vegetables and nuts -- things like lily root, squash, melon, kumquat, gingko, and so forth , vegetarian chinese food .

Other not so simple desserts.

The "butterflies"?  Which looks like deep-fried noodle skins covered with corn syrup. Kids love these

Egg custard, is also very popular which is  also knows as "Gai An Tot", literally translated as "chicken egg tart", baked in a very flaky crust cup. The reason this crust is so flaky is because they use GENUINE LARD -- no substitues. beef , vegetables , squid,muscles , prawns , shrimps ,

Steamed desserts -- the "Goh", which looks like a shiny white cake with long bubbles in them, which is made of rice flour with flavoring. 

There is also a brownish steamed cake that has sesame seeds.

Preserved fruit -- such as "Chan Pei Mui", which is preserved plums or prunes. If you check the list of ingredients you will see "plum, licorice, and vanillin". Also, preserved olives, orange peel, ginger  etc?

 sweet corn soup, corn soup, fruit, vegetables  Other desserts are the hard candies (coconut flavor) as well as the soft, chewy candies.    

Also various cookies, such as the Scandinavian butter cookies, and the various chocolate desserts are also very popular.

I bet you didn't know that the "Chinese Fortune Cookie" is an American Invention.
